Autism: A Fresh Look

Dr Kokayi reviews the role that vaccinations may play in the increasing incidence of autism. His guest Julie Mathews is the author of Nourishing Hope: Nutrition Intervention for Autism Spectrum Disorders. Her book is an excellent resource and looks at the role of various nutritional diets and supplements in the treatment of autism related neurological problems including ADD and ADHD. She is has an excellent section of the book that describes the biochemistry of some of the chemical abnormalities associated with autism. Dr Kokayi and his guest Julie Mathews have concluded that most cases of autism result from environmental toxins and nutritional deficiencies as opposed to bad genetics.

 

Coconut Water Detoxification

Dr Kokayi is joined by Khepra Anu a veteran faster with plenty of experience in running groups for detoxification, thru his internet based Mojo Juice club. Khepra has a raw food lifestyle and central to his detoxification regimen is the use of green coconut water. Green coconut water is nature’s breast milk; filtered sea water that is pulled up thru the roots of the coconut tree. Khepra has fasted up to 27 days just on coconut water. Dr Kokayi reviews the reasons for detoxification and callers share their questions.

 

WBAI Community Based Diabetes and Hypertension Program

Dr Majid Ali joins Dr Kokayi to speak about a community based initiative coming out of WBAI to help address the increasing incidence of hypertension and diabetes in the NY metropolitan area. The program will involve the selection of community folks who will receive additional training in the monitoring of hypertension and diabetes. They will tend meetings on a regular basis with people who are actively trying to address their diabetic and hypertensive situation. The training of the group leaders will be on May 4th and 11th , 2008

 

Dr Kokayi’s Model of Integrative medicine

Dr Kokayi talks about the field of integrative medicine and the present efforts being made in this area. He speaks about randomized clinical trials and the relevance of this clinical testing model in an integrative health care setting. Dr Kokayi describes the integrative health model that he uses in his practice and shares a couple of cases.
