The cost of our dependence on petroleum is clearly too high with respect to the impact on health and the environment. From plastics to gasoline, every phase of our lives are touched by petroleum. People in lower socioeconomic communities are more likely to suffer more from the largely unrecognized affects of petroleum because of their proximity to industrial complexes.
